At Iver Heath Junior School, we value pastoral care extremely highly.
We employ a Learning Mentor, who runs our fantastic Rainbow Room. In our Rainbow Room, we run nurture groups and social groups to support lots of children from across the school. Our Learning Mentor will also provide one to one support to children and families who require support, whenever these needs may arise. Examples of occasions where our Learning Mentor can provide support include times of bereavement, anxiety or trauma. A close, open relationship between home and school is key; we can often offer help, but only when we know about any issues!
We are proud to be the first primary school in Buckinghamshire to run a Peer Mentoring scheme in conjunction with Mind, a mental health charity. This scheme involves Year 6 pupils who have been trained to listen carefully to their peers from across the school and provide advice about a range of issues. They are based in the school library at break time and lunch time.
The Bucks Family Information Service website also offers lots of advice and helpful links for families. Their website can be found here: Bucks Family Information Service
