We have a very committed and dedicated team of Governors at Iver Heath Junior School. Our Governors meet regularly to support and provide challenge to the school, ensuring that the school offers the best possible education for our pupils at all times.

Pen Portraits of our Governors
Gabbie Cooney
I joined the Board of Governors in October 2016 as I was keen to contribute to the continued success of our local school. I have lived in George Green for over 14 years and have two children, a boy and a girl. I work in property and facilities management and am a qualified Project Manager and also hold Health and Safety qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety.

Merlijn Crone
Until we moved to the UK in August 2012, I worked as a teacher and Special Educational Needs Coordinator at a primary school in the Netherlands. Currently I am teaching at IHIS. I have been a parent governor since January 2014. All three of my children have attended IHJS.
Being  a parent governor gives me the opportunity to have an impact on education and positively influence children’s lives. It’s very rewarding being part of such a dedicated group of governors trying to contribute to the school’s ongoing development

Denise Parslow
I have been on the governing body since 2012. I was originally the school’s parent champion and have since worked as Chair of Governors. I am currently Chair of the Standards Committee. I have two children and work locally as a nurse. My hobbies include tennis and reading. I have lived in Iver Heath most of my life and am committed to improving the education of our local children.

Paul Ashby
I was born and raised in Slough.  I have lived in Iver / Iver Heath for the last 16 years. I have been an accountant for 30 years and have run my own accountancy practice along with my other 2 business partners since 2003. We are a small form and mainly deal with small owner managed businesses. I am married to Hande and have 2 boys who have attended Iver Heath Junior School. I  am currently a member of the finance committee.

Steve Breagan
I have been a co opted governor at IHJS since Sept 2014 and have enjoyed my time to date. I responded to a request for a finance / business professional to join the Finance Committee of the Governing Body, which I now Chair.  I am a fully qualified Management Accountant and work as an Assistant Finance Director for a Health Consultancy specialising in improving the health of populations in developing countries, particularly in maternal and new born healthcare. I have lived in the local area all of my life and am pleased to be able to use my financial skills to support our local school. I am keen to ensure that the school provides the very best education and experience for our children as well as providing a happy and safe environment.

Devan Sharma
I have lived in Iver for over 7 years. I am committed to supporting my local community and the level of Educational for IHJS. I work in the city as a Vice President for the Business Management function for a reinsurance company and Director of a London based sports cosmetics brand. I am keen to share some inspiration, skills and techniques from my exciting employment around building a good governance framework, supporting the IHJS strategy, standards and languages committee. As a parent, I have a genuine interest in the standard of Education the local authority provides for children and value the importance of inspiring the young leaders of tomorrow

Jo Cherrington
I joined the Governing Body as the health and safety governor in  Sep 2015. I have been working in education for fifteen years and have lots of relevant experience with health and safety issues. I currently work at East Berkshire College as a lecturer and work mostly with apprenticeships. I am also a mother of identical twin girls who currently attend IHJS.

Laura Bellerby
I have been a teacher for fifteen years.  I am currently on the Senior Management Team at an independent girls’ school in Twickenham, where I hold the responsibilities of Head of Sixth Form and Head of Economics.  I live in Langley, and I am keen to make my contribution to the local community.  I strongly believe that every child is entitled to an excellent education, regardless of their background.  I enjoy reading, the outdoors and animals – especially my two parrots.

Seemab Sayyed
I am a parent as well as a staff governor. I joined the governing body in November 2016. Being a parent/staff governor puts me in a unique position to understand the school dynamics. I have thoroughly enjoyed my role as a governor so far and I hope to make significant contribution in times to come.

Sabeen Ahmad
I have lived in Iver Heath for over 10 years and work as a Nutritionist. I have two daughters at IHJS and I was elected as a parent Governor in October 2017.  
I am deeply committed to education and believe it’s an important part of what shapes who we become later in life. 
We are fortunate that our local school is so amazing. As a governor, I am honoured to be able to help make IHJS an even more wonderful place for our children with the help of the rest of the governors and staff.
